Donnchadh's and Áine's

Donnchadh Ó Súilleabháin, who taught in the College of Commerce in Rathmines and became Secretary General of the Oireachtas (na Gaeilge) lived in No. 41. He is the reason I did most of my primary and all of my secondary schooling through Irish. My folks were going to put me into Synge St., a solid Christian Brothers' School (CBS) and reasonably adjacent, but they wouldn't have me. Donnchadh suggested that my parents try Coláiste Mhuire, and it worked. So I made the daily trip to Parnell Square instead of Kelly's Corner for the remainder of my stay in the Gardens.
