No. 40

This was my Granny's house, No. 40. It looks the same to me except for the side-wall and gate, and, of course, the cars. Very few people had cars in those days and the same could be said of telephones. If anything, the garden looks less kept than it was in Granny's day, though I didn't stay long enough, or look closely enough, to see if the legions of ants, which used to appear periodically, were still around. I assume the garden does not have the benefit of the genuine horse manure we used to collect from the milkman's and coalman's horses in those distant and greener days.
