Tara St. is one of three city centre stations on the Dart line.
It used to have toilets in the 1950s and 1960s when I used the station to travel to and from school. Alas, this is no more. A person could now have to wait for Greystones or Malahide to have a pee.
I asked about it and was told that the toilets would be used by druggies and be impossible to police.
Update 30/12/2010
I was informed today that the particular difficulty with Tara St. station is that it is just around the corner from a drug rehabilitation centre.

By contrast, the toilets in Pearse station, another of the three central Dart stations, have apparently been druggie-proofed.
Fortunately this was the station I used to go to college and work since 1963.
Update 30/12/2010
I noticed today that Pearse has abandoned the blue lighting in favour of soft mellow yellow. On enquiring, I was informed that the station had ceded victory to the druggies in mid 2010. The purpose of the blue lighting was to render the veins invisible. The druggies simply drew in the relevant vein with a pen before entering the toilet and Bob's your uncle. The only remaining function of the blue lighting was then to make everybody else feel sick.
