I suspect that, at Christmas 1925, Brewster felt that it was
the men who were the hopeless cases, putting the world in jeopardy
and who most needed an injection of goodwill.

Alternatively, "MEN" may be an abbreviation of "mankind"
and intended to also embrace womankind.
