Reference to Mr Leonard's proposal for a pump to the higher ground, but the Committee would advise the Corporation that they should provide a supply from a higher level than the Rathmichael tank and so dispense with the need for a pump and high level reservoir. [Irish Builder]

1955 residents of Killiney object to DL borough's plans for 95 council houses to be build beside the proposed Ballinclea reservoir, 4.5 mgal and may be covered by a park. Tenders invited for the reservoir. Residents annoyed that Co Co had bought up too much land for the reservoir and wanted to put in council houses to use it up.

1976 reference to letter (of 29/11) from Eithne Devanney referring to "the polluted condition of the [Killiney] beach resulting from the inadequate length of the discharge pipe from the grossly overloaded sewerage works at the mouth of the Shanganagh River." and to " the mile long slicks in Killiney bay , plainly visible flowing towards Bray or Dalkey sound, depending on the tide flow". The letter, from JBA Boyle, Caerleon, Church Road, Ballybrack, itself asked if the Roundwood reservoir, constructed in 1863-68, was inadequate to provide sufficient water for the rapidly increasing population of south Co. Dublin. It also referred to a drought and the low level of the reservoir the previous year.
