The Ramblers Rest
One of the two "bona fide" pubs in Ballybrack. This one boasts having been there since 1878. In the old days pubs were allowed to serve "bona fide" travellers at times when they were required to be closed to the rest of the population. A traveller was "bona fide" for this purpose if he resided more than three miles from the pub in question. The pub's location halfway between DĂșn Laoghaire and Bray was no disadvantage in this regard. Needless to say the rule was honoured more in the breach than in the observance.
