Dáil Éireann

Dear Mr. O'Dwyer

Thank you for your letter in relation to the importation of the four books you mentioned.

I have read in fact, all of them, with the exception of "Candy" by Terry Southern, of which I have no knowledge. I agree completely with your observations. There is absolutely no reason why these books should not be imported under licence for the purpose which you outline.

I intend taking the following course, writing to the Minister for Justice asking him to grant you the licence. Failing this I will bring the matter up in the Dáil by way of Parliamentary Question. If the answer to my Question is unsatisfactory I will then bring the matter up on the adjournment.

I will get in touch with you when I hear from the Minister.

Yours sincerely,

David Andrews
