P�l's Great Grandfather


His death cert gave me the following information:

• He lived at 1 Donore Cottage. He had moved there following his retirement from shoemaking in James's St. in 1919.
• He is down as 85 year old in 1928. This suggest a year of birth of 1843. His marriage cert shows him 21 in 1866 which suggests a year of birth of 1845, while his census returns for 1901 and 1911 variously suggest 1851 and 1846, while his memoriam card suggests 1841.
• He died from, gout, bronchitis and cardiac failure.
• The death is reported by his daughter Tess, who married Paddy Medlar. Paddy seems to have looked after the family, at least to some extent, in its various hours of need: he organised Patrick's funeral in 1918 and Granny was living at one of his addresses for a few years following this.
