One memory that stays very stong with me concerns the garage of the house seen here at the top of the Gardens. The son of the house had one of those magic lantern things which projected actual drawings as opposed to transparencies - the word escapes me for the moment. Anyway, he used to write and draw horror stories and charge the local children in to the show on a Saturday afternoon. I particularly remember "The Hand", pretty scarey for kids of our age. And don't forget that this was the cutting edge of the special effects technology of the day.
